Foundry Showcasing Expansive 3D Tools Lineup at SIGGRAPH 2023

‘Foundry Learn and Education’ meetups and presentations at the conference include techniques in compositing from Unity Wētā Tools, Boxel Studios, and Action VFX and lighting and 3D techniques from Foundry product experts.

Foundry, a leading developer of creative software for the Media and Entertainment industry, will host a series of presentations and meet-ups focusing on the recent innovations in its compositing, lighting, texturing, and 3D tools at SIGGRAPH 2023, running in Los Angeles through August 10.

Third-party talks and a series of community and educational events will be included, with the Foundry team on-site to speak with customers on the latest industry developments and product releases.

At the conference, Foundry Booth (#644) dedicated to “Foundry Learn and Education,” offering both students and professionals a chance to learn new techniques in compositing from Unity Wētā Tools, Boxel Studios, and Action VFX, along with lighting and 3D techniques from Foundry product experts. The booth will host several community events, including:

Tuesday, August 8

  • 2 pm- 3 pm: a meetup with Foundry APAC Community
  • 4 pm-5 pm: a meetup with the LATAM

Wednesday, August 9

  • 3:30 pm-5 pm: Texture Artist meetup with Mari Product Manager Charli Holt

Other Foundry events taking place during the show include:

  • Katana Summit with Wētā’s Associate VFX Supervisor Sam Cole for Avatar: Way of Water
  • Pixar Animation Studio’s Global Technology Supervisor, Renee Tam, presents using advanced Denoising with RenderMan and Katana for Pixar’s next feature film Elio.
  • Nuke CopyCat Master class and customer meetups for Mari and Modo.

To support those impacted by the pause of VFX projects due to the U.S. writer’s union (WGA) and actors’ union (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, Foundry is extending its Nuke 30-day trial license to 90 days to help artists learn using the latest release. The trial will also grant access to the upcoming Nuke 15.0 open beta, so artists can experiment and provide feedback on the latest features.

Foundry has announced support for several community-based initiatives at this year’s conference, including the launch of the new Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD), the annual DigiPro 2023 event, Academy Software Foundation Open Source Days 2023, and the Going Cloud Native Birds of a Feather mixer, Women of SIGGRAPH workshops series and the Student Volunteer program.

“We’re excited to be back in LA connecting with our community of artists and technologists on the 50th anniversary of SIGGRAPH!” shared Chief Product Officer Christy Anzelmo. “This year we’ll be previewing upcoming releases across all Foundry products with customers and partners. In addition to an array of meetups and events during the week, the Foundry team will be supporting the open source community through engagements with the ASWF, MovieLabs, and the AOUSD.”
