The veteran artist, best known for his roles as Braveheart Lion in the ‘Care Bears’ animated series and Chief Quimby in ‘Inspector Gadget,’ as well on shows like ‘Star Wars: Droids,’ ‘Rock & Rule,’ and ‘Beetlejuice,’ died on November 13 due to Parkinson’s disease complications.
Voice actor and director Dan Hennessey passed away on November 13 due to Parkinson’s disease complications, according to Deadline. He was 82.
Best known for his roles as Braveheart Lion in the Care Bears animated series and Chief Quimby in Inspector Gadget, Hennessey voiced in dozens of shows, including the role of Father Bear in Little Bear, Chef Truffles in Babar, Roy “Bully” Koopa in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros., Ruckus in X-Men: The Animated Series, and various roles on Star Wars: Droids, Rock & Rule, and Beetlejuice, and many more.
He also served as voice director on X-Men: The Animated Series.
The family said in a statement, “We are so touched by all those letting us know how he impacted them through his craft, from stage to voice acting and direction. We are warmed by the fact that he provided comfort to a generation of kids around the world by giving voice to beloved animated characters like Braveheart Lion and Fatherbear, who were the personification of his kind and exuberant personality.”
Hennessey is survived by his wife Patricia and daughters Skye and Eden.
