The festive 3DCG animated feature from Locksmith Animation, based on the kids’ book trilogy by famed author Richard Curtis, releases globally on December 4.
Netflix has released the first trailer for That Christmas, the 3DCG animated feature based on the children's book trilogy by Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually, Yesterday), who also penned the screenplay with Peter Souter.
The heartwarming project from Locksmith Animation marks the feature film directorial debut of renowned character animation and story artist veteran Simon Otto (How to Train Your Dragon trilogy). This will be DNEG Animation’s second project with Locksmith, having previously worked on Ron’s Gone Wrong. The film also features an original song by Ed Sheeran, with music by John Powell.
When the project came to Locksmith Animation, they decided to adapt the first book in the series, “The Empty Stocking,” in combination with the other two books into one feature film. Co-founder and president of production Julie Lockhart said, “We felt that as Richard is a genius at weaving things together, like he did in Love, Actually, why don’t we weave the three books together?”
That Christmas follows a series of entwined tales about love and loneliness, family and friends, and Santa Claus making a big mistake - not to mention an enormous number of turkeys!
