‘Alien: Romulus’ Promises Chest-Bursting Terror in New Trailer

Produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Fede Alvarez, the ninth entry in the immensely popular and enduring ‘Alien’ franchise hits theaters August 16, 2024. 

20th Century Studios has released the first official trailer for Alien: Romulus, the newest installment in the beloved science fiction horror franchise.

Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown) stars in this harrowing thriller, which follows a group of young space colonizers scavenging a derelict space station on a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) directs from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues.

Starring alongside Spaeny are David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (Rosaline), Spike Fearn (The Batman) and Aileen Wu (Away from Home).

Ridley Scott, director of the original Alien film, as well as Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, produces with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler, upcoming) under their Scott Free banner, with Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) and Tom Moran (The Donut King) serving as executive producers.

Led by production VFX supervisor Eric Barba and production VFX producer Annemarie Griggs, the VFX studios on the film include Clear Angle Studios, DNEG, Fin Design + Effects, Gentle Giant Studios, ILM, Metaphysic, NVIZ, and Wētā FX.

Alien: Romulus bursts into theaters August 16.
