The Famous Fred production team celebrates their Oscar nomination.
Famous Fred is a musical film about a legendary "rock star" cat, based on a book by Posy Simmonds. The 30-minute film was directed by Joanna Quinn, creator of animated shorts such as Girl's Night Out, Body Beautiful and Britannia. Made in Wales, U.K., the film was produced by John Coates of TVC Cartoons for Channel 4 and S4C and is currently distributed by Hit Entertainment. In addition to being aired on television, Famous Fred has been screened at several international animation festivals, and won the Grand Prize for Best Animated TV Program (Series or Special) at The 1997 Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
