Animation producers are invited to polish their best ideas, practice their pitches and wow an audience of top television execs at the third annual Pitch THIS! event at the Television Animation Conference (TAC). Presented by the Ottawa International Animation Festival, TAC takes place Sept. 19-20, 2007, at the historic Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa Canada.
"There are plenty of pitching competitions in Canada, but Pitch THIS! is the only one geared to animation producers," says TAC director Azarin Sohrabkhani. "If you have what it takes to entertain the likes of Cartoon Network and TELETOON bigshots, then we want you to submit your most creative, outrageous, star-making ideas!"
To be considered for Pitch THIS! producers should submit their proposals for an original adult or children's animation series and include a project bible, sample episode synopsis, concept art and biographies of the key creative team.
Submissions may be sent to Azarin Sohrabkhani at azarin@animationfestival.ca or by regular post to 2 Daly Avenue, Suite 120, Ottawa, Ontario K1N 6E2. Deadline for submissions is July 31, 2007. No more than two submissions per production company will be accepted.
Two producers will be selected to ascend the podium on Wednesday, Sept. 19, and pitch their projects for 10 minutes to a panel of leading animation broadcasters, as well as the entire conference audience of more than 200 buyers, financiers, partners and industry gurus.
Following the pitches, representatives from such networks as Nickelodeon, TELETOON, Cartoon Network and PBS will respond with detailed insights, assessing each project's creative and financial elements and analyzing its marketability and appeal to each broadcaster. Along with this invaluable feedback, each participating producer gains the type of industry exposure that can lead to future success.
"The response I got from doing the pitch has really helped shape the development of my show," notes producer Chris Dainty of Ottawa-based Dainty Prods., whose gave the 2006 pitch THE CONSTELLATIONS. "With the exposure on the Net and from TAC a lot of people have contacted us in regards to the possibility of working together."
