SuperProd to Animate Ringo Starr's ‘Octopus's Garden’

French animation powerhouse teams with Simon & Schuster, Universal Music Publishing and Startling Music for the TV adaptation of the book ‘Octopus's Garden,’ based on the famous song written and sung by Ringo Starr.

PARIS, FRANCE -- SUPERPROD, Simon & Schuster, Universal Music Publishing and Startling Music have reached an agreement for the TV adaptation of the book Octopus's Garden, based on the famous song written and sung by Ringo Starr and featured on The Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road. The book Octopus's Garden sets Starr's lyrics to illustrations by Ben Cort, the artist behind the best- selling Aliens Love Underpants, which have been published in 18 languages and 20 countries and sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

SUPERPROD will pitch the project at upcoming international TV market MIPTV next April and international sales company SUPERIGHTS will represent international rights to the animation program.

"We are particularly proud and happy to work on this great book and music. The evergreen song by Ringo Starr and the superb drawings by Ben Cort are a wonderful setting for telling our animated stories. We are thrilled to team-up with such great talents and major partners in the music and book publishing industries,” remarked Clément Calvet and Jeremie Fajner at SUPERPROD.

“We are delighted that all these leading parties have come together to work on such an exciting project. It is a real coup to be working with Superprod and we can’t wait to see their adaptation” added Alexandra Maramenides at Simon & Schuster Children’s.
