Disney has announced that it will investigate allegations of human rights abuse at the Chinese factory where merchandise for CARS and TOY STORY are made, reports Deadline.com. Following an employee's suicide, an undercover investigation was conducted at Sturdy Products and revealed child labor and excessive overtime totaling 120 extra hours per month. Employees also told the report that they were forced to use dangerous chemicals and not given protective equipment. Additionally, they were told to hide adhesives and thinners when clients came to visit.

Mattel and Walmart also use the factory for products. Human rights group Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehaviour conducted the investigative report.

CARS 2 is estimated to bring in $10 billion, which would make it the largest movie merchandise program of all time.
